Choosing Wellness: Reflections from a Turbulent Tropical Weekend and the Business Parallels

Today my girlfriend woke up sick on our first weekend together in Punta Cana… We had an amazing day planned of activities, but unfortunately the universe had other plans today.

You might be asking yourself, why am I sharing this?

Well because sometimes things don’t go our way.

And this is especially true in business.

Sometimes we feel like we are on top of the world and other days we feel like we are in a valley.

My friend and mentor Neil said to me something I will never forget when I felt like I was in a valley. He said, “Cody never let the highs get to high and the lows get to low.

I still remember this to this day.

But as we were sitting outside this afternoon near the pool my girlfriend said to me, “Cody when we get back to Canada I think we should go to see a nutritionist”.

I am brought back today to a memory when I got sick last year and decided that I was going to put my health first.

It’s easy to let that stuff slip as we go about our days and business.

My friend Vikram has always demonstrated what it looks like to make health a priority – and right now we are travelling together and I am reminded that without health, we have nothing.

The only thing my girlfriend wants today is to feel healthy again.

And I want the same for her.

I am brought back to how we often put ourselves in these positions. While sometimes sickness just strikes, a lot of it can be prevented through healthy choices, taking vitamins, getting sun and continuing to keep our bodies active.

This is like business…

The choices we make in business show up in 90 – 120 day windows. Our lack of conversation volume can dictate what our Jan – Feb looks like. Everything comes down to consistency with health and in business…

It’s become abundantly clear to me that we make choices every single day about who we are going to be.

So as we finish out the end of the year and head into 2024…

I want to pose this question to you…

What choices do you need to make in order to see a brighter 2024 in business and in life?

The Power of Role-Play, Objection Practice, and Scripting in Real Estate

Role play, practicing objections and scripting allow us to suck less. My friends Sharran Srivatsaa and Jason Capital have said to me before something I will never forget, “if you don’t script, role-play and practice you don’t care” The other day I spent the entire day rewriting scripts in my own tone and it resulted…
