I’ve never been known as the quiet person. I guess it’s because I’ve always had a lot to say.
But the biggest challenge for me was learning how to listen.
And by listening, I mean not only to people but also my inner thoughts. To connect with a much more developed sense of perception of what’s going on with me and learning how to repurpose whatever that was into my personal and professional life.
The passion of connecting with people and understanding them on a deeper level has always been present, and it’s driven all of my endeavours throughout my life and brought me to where I am now with SheridanSt.
I was born and raised in Barranquilla, Colombia, a tropical Caribbean city with a very colourful culture (yes, colourful – not only visually), home of the second biggest carnival in the world and year round summery weather.
Even though I loved most of it, the need for exploring the world more lead me to study abroad in Buenos Aires, Argentina, a much more European-influenced culture, where I spent five years in-between my Advertising major in Universidad de Palermo and a 3 year program in performing arts based upon singing and ontological coaching.
While I completed both programs, I also started working as a customer service representative for an American company where I stayed for about three years.
That being said, without realizing it, I was shaping my path on how to connect with people while training myself in front of the camera, behind the scenes and the strategy building when it comes to developing a relationship with a customer.
Everything has been very organic in my career so far, and the road has currently lead to sales, a previously unexplored, scary world I would have never thought I’d be involved in. But the thing is, I absolutely love it.
Everything in the past has been building up to this moment without me even knowing it, and every single skill developed adds a little bit more towards a connection with a person.
In my experience so far, I can say sales is fundamentally about human connection. It’s about developing a relationship and understanding who the other person is, where they’re coming from and where they want to be.
Sales is really about identifying how both parties can benefit from a transaction. It’s essentially offering a solution to each other’s problem, but the success in it is focusing on how both can feed off of each other to strive towards the same goal.
It is a win-win situation. It is an investment in each other, and that investment is meant to lead to tremendous growth in business and life.
As a business developer, SheridanSt. has given me the opportunity not only to learn about sales, but on how to uncover a potential I didn’t even know I had. The constant feeding of each team member’s hunger for growth and the time and energy invested in our training assures me I am where I’m meant to be.
There’s a dream team being built at this global agency, and I couldn’t be happier to be a part of it.
